Weekend please don't go...

So sad to see the weekend has passed so quickly! Last week was a test week in our home this means Jeff spent the week studying up at med school and I spent the week swearing I would do the laundry and be productive so we could lounge all weekend. I HATE LAUNDRY! We have been in and out of town since beginning of December and since Im always looking for any excuse not to do laundry this was the perfect reason. I did a couple of loads throughout the week, (after a few rounds in the washer bc I may or may not have let them sit there for a little too long and had to rewash them ha) and they made it to the Bama couch in Jeff's office but never folded themselves... Im certain they will still be there when I get off work today and I will then finally fold and put them away.

This weekend was much too perfect to take time out to do laundry! I LOVE LOVE LOVE when Jeff has a Friday test because that leaves the whole weekend for us to spend time together. I really started my weekend on Thursday when I met up with Cortney for drinks at Cheddars, to talk about her bachelorette party, and upcoming wedding. Cortney is a friend of mine and the soon to be sister in law of my best friend/college roommate Brittany or B as I like to call her. B's mom Tam and brother Ryan joined us for dinner and it was so great catching up with all of them. Since moving to College Station I don't have many friends here and was thrilled to be out of the house and spending some time with the three of them. We must do this more often!

Tam and I at Cheddars
After Cheddars I met up with Mike and Rach at Corner Bar then took Jeff some dinner and called it a night. Friday was test day for Jeffrey and that means Happy Hour at Garpez! If you know me you know Im a planner, I love having a plan, I must have a plan... I had a plan for our weekend and that plan was to do very little. After taking the circus to the vet Friday afternoon it was off to Garpez with Jeff and Logan to enjoy some frozen margaritas with a beer mixed in. The rest of the night was spent at our house playing Xbox and watching movies... I was in heaven! Saturday morning we went to brunch at La Bodega and then to see The Dilemma. It was pretty cute and I enjoyed the time spent with Jeffrey. We returned home to watch a few of our favorite Alabama seniors play in the Senior Bowl and enjoyed lounging on the couch with the circus. I soaked it all in, Jeff at home with spare time on his hands, both dogs and cats sitting still at the same time, watching Greg McElroy sport that Crimson Tide helmet one last time, wrapped in the quilt my Great Granny made, and having no obligations for the remainder of the day...Oh it was beautiful!!!

Saturday evening rolled around and just as I got out of the shower and in to a clean pair of jams Jeff's phone kept going off. He wasn't saying anything but got antsy haha it was the boys and they were in the Man Cave at a new place here in town called Knockouts, he was itching to go. I just laughed and agreed to deviate from our original plan of doing nothing and staying home... soon I was in the Man Cave, having drinks from the table tap with the boys, listening to their talk of hockey, football, basketball, baseball, and soccer. So funny how much joy it brings me just to see Jeff having a good time with his boys... it makes me miss my girls so much more. We closed out the night with Mike and Rach at Carney's, planning vacations, drinking Whip Its, and exchanging stories.

Sunday came and we met at Johnny Carino's to celebrate Jeff's nephew, Brett's 13th Birthday! We watched the Lady Bears beat the Aggies in some basketball... as the time ran out on the clock I shouted Sic Em, picked up Beckham and did a little jig with excitement! (Sorry to all my Aggie Loves) Last night we went to dinner and to see No Strings Attached... I loved it! So cute! Now Monday has returned, we are refueled, its back to studying for Jeffrey, and back to work and entertaining myself for another week! Great news though... I have two girls coming over to watch Bachelor with me tonight and my cousin Mason's basketball game on Wednesday. This week maybe I'll even squeeze in some crafting or cupcake making. Counting down until Friday when I return to Abilene to see the fam, Mel's growing baby belly and beautiful pregnancy glow, Nuggs, and Ali! I cannot wait! Hope your weekend was a wonderful and relaxing as ours!

Little Loves...

Lately I have been getting to see all my little loves! I went home to Abilene last weekend for Tate's Winter Formal and my dad's 49th birthday! I drove in Friday afternoon and went straight to see Mel. When I was living in Abilene this is what I did everyday come 5:30, big adjustment when I moved away. I rode with her to pick up Nuggs from school, I was amazed at how much she has grown and changed since I have been gone. I see pictures and videos all the time but they just don't do the trick! It was so nice spending time with the Morris fam.

At Laney's 1st bday party, I didn't get any pictures from this time.
I met my mom for dinner at Outback and spent the rest of the night with her... drinking Bud Light and talking... 2 of our favorite things! There's just something so special about being back in my bedroom at mom's, she hasn't changed it one bit since I went to college. Beckham and Lexi stayed home with Jeff so Libby, my pup at moms house, and Tate slept with me in my old room. I cherished every second of this night, I woke up a million times and just stared at them sleeping. With Kaitlyn being almost 7 years younger than I am I often still think of her as a baby hah.

Saturday we went to lunch at El Fenix with Dad to celebrate his birthday and then spent the rest of the day running around town getting Tate ready for formal. Everyone met at my moms house for a few pictures and to get on the party bus that my parents had arranged for them to take to formal. My dad came over before everyone else and for 45 minutes it was just the four of us, sitting in the living room, mom with her bud light in hand, dad with his coors light, talking, laughing, as if nothing ever changed. Im so thankful that my parents still get along and are able to do things together for Kaitlyn and I.

Once Tate was off to dinner and the dance Mom and I went to dinner at Chilis and then over to play with my friend Casilea's baby girl, Cadence.

Sunday when I got back to College Station we went over to Jeff's parents to see Erica and the kids. We talked about Emma's 4th birthday party plans, ate chili, drank wine and watched football! Perfect end to a great weekend!

New "homemade" Furniture

As a wedding gift my dad MADE Alex and I our bedroom furniture (2 night stands, and a dresser). Because we had such a short engagement he didnt have enough time to finish it all before we moved. But, this past week I went to Abilene to pick the dresser up...and it is beautiful! Over the christmas break Alex and my dad actually started on the dresser, so for me this dresser is super special because they both made it!

On my way home I called Al to tell him "you might want to get a dolly because the dresser is very heavy." But of course he recalls a different conversation (l0l!). Anyways, our wonderful neighbors Tabby and Jordan came over to help. I wish I took pictures of this but I was freaking out the entire time that it was going to drop. Tabby even told me one time that I might just want to wait in our apartment. The guys carried up the dresser (200+ pounds) up 3 flights of stairs literally one step at a time with not a scratch on it! They are amazing!!!

The BEAUTIFUL dresser Dad and Alex made!

The dresser with a little decor on top!

I''m so lucky to have such an amazing carpenter as a dad and a husband who is learning :)

Mad's Wedding

This past weekend Mendy and I went with our girl friends to Cabo San Lucas for Madisen's wedding. The gang was all there except Mel who is expecting twins and cannot travel... we missed her dearly! The trip began on Thursday, I drove from CS to Mendy's so we could pack all 45 matching t-shirts that I just had to haul to Cabo ha. We managed to get them all packed up and even had room for a couple of beverages in our checked bags... SCORE! Once at the airport Mendy, Alison and I went to TGI Fridays to have a few drinks and some appetizers before we took off. Poor Claire had a mix up in communication and was not going to make our flight to Cabo from DFW. Our flight got delayed and it was back to TGI Fridays! Once on the plane Jackie and I read magazines and had some cold bud light. We arrived in Cabo about 9:30, went to the hotel and enjoyed some nachos and quesadillas!

We decided to turn in at 12:30 instead of waiting up for Kate who was dancing her night away with Molly and Madisen at the Pink Kitty. Friday morning Jackie couldn't sleep and since all in one room it was up and at em! We were off to the breakfast buffet where we made the mimosas bottomless until they brought us a to go cup... that was our cue to leave ha.
After going to find Molly to wish her Happy Birthday we went back to the room to meet up with Mad. We all went down to the beach and pool where we tanned, talked, played beach volleyball, took too many shots and celebrated Molly's 24th Birthday!
That night was the rehearsal dinner on the beach... it was so fun and the food was amazing! The groomsmen were such a hoot and made a few posters of themselves for Mad and James... Im sure we won't be seeing those hanging in their new home anytime soon. After the dinner we all went up to the room for Madisen's lingerie shower followed by an after rehearsal party.

thanks for jumping in our pic guys
Saturday morning came BRIGHT (bc we left the shades open) and early (8am) when Ali and I were woken up by a phone call from Kate saying party in the other room. We got out of bed, brushed our teeth and went immediatly over there. We are not the two that will miss a party no matter what time of the morning it is taking place! We all ordered room service breakfast and opted out on drinks just yet as we were all still recovering from the night before...we did however fill our bathtub with our beverages of choice, it took many trips to the ice machine but it was worth it! To celebrate Mad's wedding day we packed a bag full of beer and wine and hit the beach! The things we forgot up in the room... sunscreen and the iPod speaker... Fail!

We all got ready for the wedding together and before we knew it 3:30 had rolled around and it was time to take pictures. The wedding was BEAUTIFUL and went so smoothly! The reception started with Mad and James dancing to Kings of Leon, followed by the father/daughter dance, and the real tear jerker, James and his mom Kathy dancing to James Taylor's song Sweet Baby James. After their dances it quickly became a dance party and a concert sung by yours truly, Ali, Kate, and Mad. Our table was the FUN table...everyone around was either loving us or hating us we're not sure which one haha. Mendy and I had to leave the hotel at 4:45am which came so quickly... after another flight delay we finaly made it back to Texas safe and sound! It was a such a fun weekend... so thankful for our fabulous friends! Special thanks to the Langners for everything this weekend!

Congratulations James and Madisen Tate! We love you both!

Cotton Bowl

Cotton Bowl weekend we had the most amazing time with family and friends in Dallas. When we arrived Friday we met up with Erica and Daniel to enjoy some margaritas and brisket tacos at Mia's... I was in Heaven. The four of us then met up with Alison, Mike and Rachel at Cowboys Stadium to tailgate and enjoy the game. We got back to the hotel pretty late that night so we decided to rest up for Saturday and good thing we did. The next morning we woke up and went to brunch where we sipped on delicious mimosas and I had chicken and waffles for the first time... boy have I been missing out! We were on our way back to the hotel to lay low before our crazy evening until we pulled up to get gas right by Hotel ZaZa, my fave, it didnt take much to convince Erica to run across the street with me to have a few Big Flirt martinis hah. Instead of resting we spent the afternoon at The Dragonfly and Capitol Pub. Jeff's cousin Dan, his wife Kendra and their little boy Grey met up with us and later had us over to their place for drinks! So glad we got to visit with them!

We ended the night at Knox Street Pub, a favorite of Mike Stevens and a must go when we're in Dallas.

Sunday Jeff and I enjoyed one last delicious meal before heading home to CS. A weekend full of great friends, family, good drinks, and many perfect meals was topped with a beautiful ending...

The COLLEyville Crew

There are 3 in the Harrison crew...me, my husband Alex,
and our sweet puppy Brinkley.

To clarify where we live it is not in Colleyville, but Grapevine (practically next door). After we got married and moved to the metroplex we found our sweet little apartment in Grapevine, but Nat and I could not part with changing our blog name :) We are very blessed to have so many great friends and family that live near us that yall will soon hear all about!

Cuties in Capes

I'm always searching books, blogs and Etsy for my next project so when I stumbled upon these childrens capes I was so excited! I really wanted to make Jeff's nieces, Emma and Georgia, some. I went to Etsy  to get a closer look and fell in love with the whole idea! I just knew they had to have one! I quickly went to the store and bought all the necessities but like always procrastinated actually completing them. Well I finally finished them and I'd say they were a hit! Take a look at these cuties in their new superhero capes!

Emma

Georgia

The girls didn't want to slow down long enough to take a picture but luckily Erica managed to snap a few action shots which I stole ha! Hopefully these capes will fuel their imaginations and make for many fun "adventures"! There was one little Sprout who isn't quite big enough for a superhero cape but he was given lots of love and attention!

Hayes

We are so lucky to get to spend lots of time with these little loves!

The COLLEge Station Crew

Here are some names and faces you are sure to see a lot of...

Jeff

I moved from Abilene to College Station in August to be with this cutie! I brought along all of our "babies" aka The Circus

Beckham and Lexi

Rex and Roxy

And these two beauties don't actually live in CS but will definitely be making their fair share of blog appearances... My mom, Sus and my sister, Kaitlyn (Tate)

Life in CS is anything but boring! When Jeff isn't studying we spend most of our time at The Corner Bar or Carney's. I must admit it is quite different from my life in Abilene but I am loving every minute!

Meet the COLLEy girls

WELCOME!
1st off the COLLEy blog is long past due! We initially wanted to start blogging when we found out that Natalie was moving to COLLEge Station and I (Mendy) was moving to COLLEyville. But, like always life got in the way and has postponed us starting a blog till the New Year 2011!

WHO ARE WE?
We are best friends from back home, the great Abilene, Texas! We have been through it all together...life, love, friends, and of course crafts! We love wine, dancing, singing karaoke, and any opportunity to match! We have moved away from Abilene and then gone back. People say Abilene is like a vacuum, you try to leave but it always seems to suck you back in. So, who knows maybe one day we will be back :)
