Kaley's baby shower...

Saturday my mom and I hosted a baby shower for Kaley a lifelong friend of our family. She has Creed who will be 3 in June and is expecting twins in May. The shower for Slade and Blakesley couldn't have been better! We had such a fabulous turn out!

I ordered pink and blue thumbprint cookies and petifores from McKays. We also snacked on veggies, ranch dip, quiche, chips and salsa. We set up two 10 person tables, one blue for the little boy and one pink for the little girl.

When opening presents we made sure to tell Kaley to lay a recieving blanket over her lap since she was wearing a dress... well I obviously should have done this myself because looking at all the pictures from that time I sure was not sitting so pretty. Oops! Make a note of that for next time I decide to sit in front of a group of people in a dress haha... the good thing is it must not have been that noticable because neither my mom nor sister said anything to me about it at the actual shower.

not so lady like

Tate and Sus had been in the Bahamas for a week if you cannot tell
We love you Gran and cannot wait to meet your precious little babies!

Felt Food Frenzy...

Last weekend was Emmas birthday party and for awhile now I knew that I wanted to make her a picnic basket but of course waited to start it. I love picnics... LOVE them! I love looking at picnic baskets online...
Like this one...

And my personal favorite...

If I could justify spending that money I would already own one of these beauties! I am so excited for longer days and nice warm weather... I see picnics a plenty once Jeff takes his big exam in June that is.
I called Mendy and she had the perfect idea to go along with my picnic basket for E... FELT FOOD! Yes! Felt food why didn't I think of that! I had seen it last year on etsy when I was making the felt playhouse but had not thought of it since. I went to the store after work and got the supplies and got started! All in all I like the way it turned out but I must say I am not so great at making felt slices of bread :/

I also made a picnic blanket to go along with it.

The basket I got from Hobby Lobby and covered it with fabric and added a ruffle... I just love how it turned out!

Tim McGraw...

Last Monday a customer of ours gave me tickets to the Tim McGraw concert at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. It was last minute but we called up Logan and hopped in the car to be sure to get there in time to go eat a good meal. We met at Grand Lux and it was phenomenal as always! We got to the rodeo in time to see some bull riding and the little kids do the mutton bustin'... So cute! Maybe Hayes will do it when he gets a little bigger so we can all go watch him ;D haha. The boys made me leave my big camera in the car for fear that they wouldn't let me take it in and we'd have to walk ALL THE WAY back to the car so the only pictures I have are from outside.

Thank you Lisa and Wade! We had a wonderful time!

Surprise Surprise...

(Warning: Overload of pictures below)
Alison and I had a wild weekend in Washington DC this past weekend with Kate. Back in December we decided that we wanted to surprise Kate for her birthday in DC. I love parties and LOVE surprises. I got in touch with her mom who gave me Jennifer, her roommates number and I was kind of creepy and got Walter her boyfriends number without her knowing in Cabo. I worked with Walter and Jenn for the last few months planning out all the details and when Thursday finally came we were so excited! I left out of College Station early Thursday morning and waiting for Alison to get to DFW. We had a few hours to kill between flights so we went to Chilis Too in the airport and had some drinks and lunch. I met the most fantastic lady on the flight from DFW to DC. Her name is Karen, she is such a hoot and absolute blast to be around! Alison was sleeping the whole way while Karen and I shared stories. Karen and I found Alison a boyfriend, Karen's son Josh, a person to send her resume to at Harris hospital in Dallas, Karen's friend that is a NICU nurse there... The things I do for you Ali! Once in DC I was beside my self, I felt like a little kid at an amusement park! When we got our suitcases I was a little angry because they had beat my luggage up terribly... my GIRLS WEEKEND suitcase now has a small hole in the top and black streaks all over!!! We hit our first speedbump once we got in the cab... we were so excited to get to Walter's and to be in DC behind Kate's back that we did not check to see if the cab took credit cards. Once halfway there I see a small yellow sign on the seat in front of me that says Cash Only Cab... UH OH... I wispered and pointed it out to Ali, we both quickly dug through our purses and pulled out all the cash we had... 7 or so dollars... PERFECT since our fare was already up to 11 something! I told the driver and appologized to him numerous times. I also explained to him that we are small town girls who jump in their cars and go where ever they want so cabs are not a thing we know tons about... cut us some slack Mr. Cabdriver! He took us to an ATM at the Congressional Exxon, little did we know this would become a major marker in our DC trip. The Exxon is next door to Kate's place but we had never been to there so we didn't realize it at the time. Once we got some cash we were back on track and so ready to be at Walter's so we could meet him, get ready for the night and go surprise Kate! She was going after work to have some drinks with her coworkers at a little place called Union Pub so we went to meet her. The whole walk there I could not stop talking about how excited I was and how shocked she was going to be... and shocked she was! Walter went in first and told her that he had a gift for her down the hall and when she looked down the hall there we were! She screamed with excitement and ran towards us! It was perfect! Her poor coworkers had no clue what was going on they just knew we crashed their happy hour haha. Thursday night we went to dinner with a group of her friends at an Italian food place, had such a great time but decided to turn in early so we would be refreshed for Friday.
We woke up to Walter baking Kate a red velvet cake from scratch! What a good guy! He then walked with us to Kate's office and took us on a tour of The Capitol. It was amazing and I got to take numerous pictures, which I loved! We ate lunch at a french cuisine place called Bistro Cacao and I would recommend it to anyone. We spent the rest of the afternoon seeing other touristy stops like the Whitehouse and stopped in for a Midnight Mimosa at Old Ebbett Corner Bar... I just love Corner Bar here in CS so much I couldn't pass up a chance to go to one in DC!

Walter had asked us to take Kate to dinner and then bring her back to his house for a surprise party that he was throwing for her. The dinner we took her too was probably my favorite part of the trip. We drank wine like it was going out of style, shared delicious appetizers and meals, talked about life and love, and reminisced about the times we've spent together. I love the friendship we share and I sat there and enjoyed every minute... it was perfect! After dinner we went to Walters for the party and then to play putt putt at this bar they like to go to. Putt Putt inside the bar! Crazy I know!

Saturday we went to and amazing brunch and then on to the Leprechaun Bar Lap and boy was it fun! I was so excited to go on my first pub crawl. Ali was in heaven surrounded by beer and red heads... what more could she ask for! We made it home to shower and regroup before we hit the piano bar that night... who doesnt love a night at the piano bar!

Sunday came too soon and it was time again to say goodbye to Kate. Come back to Texas Kater we miss you and love you! Thanks for being the perfect hostess and showing us a great time in DC! Thanks again to Walter and Jenn who helped us out with all the little details and made the surprise possible!

Big Things to Come...

So many exciting things coming up but cannot go into all of them just yet. This past weekend Erica and the kids came in town and as always we had a blast. Friday night we went to a Ducks Unlimited banquet with Sid, Daniel and Erica. We ate lots of great food and drank lots of free booze but didnt win anything at the raffle. Better luck next year I suppose. Jeff was insistent on going straight home after the DU event but once in the parking lot we convinced him to go to The Tap for just a few pickle juice shots ;D

the only picture I got at the DU event

We spent the day Saturday between Boston's and Knockouts with Logan, Josh, Cameron, one of Jeffs med school friends, and his girlfriend Shahriela. That night was reserved for our favorite go to place, Corner Bar, with Mike and Rach. They took their engagement pictures Saturday morning and when I saw Rach that night her makeup still looked flawless! I cannot wait to see all of their pictures! She has started a blog and everyone should read it... she is such a hoot!

After lunch at Ozonas on Sunday Erica, Vicki and I started preparing for Emma's upcoming birthday party!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE birthdays or any reason to have a party for that matter! She is going to have a cooking party (more on that to come) so we made aprons for all the little boys and girls. We used camo/blue fabric for the boys and Emma picked out the girls fabric which is just too cute. Sid is convinced that none of the little boys will actually wear their apron but we are hoping he is wrong hah. The girls were so great while we were sewing, they were having a tea party outside and swinging on the porch swing with Pop/Sid. Hayes too was a little saint and I just couldn't keep my camera out of his sweet little face!
G eating Oreos after lunch

Got a little tired while watching movies and eating popcorn... poor girl

Such a great big sister!

This week I went cleaning and cooking crazy starting on Sunday! This beautiful weather really gets me motivated! I opened the blinds, turned all TVs to the country music chanel, and got to work! Now our house is clean, the laundry is caught up and I have prepared all of our meals each day...this is a feat people! So at night time I have been enjoying the smell of home cooked meals and freshly cleaned laundry as some of it air dries over our banister. My efforts have not gone unnoticed by Jeffrey and that makes the 5 loads of catch up laundry, the cleaning of the carpets, the buying and preparing of the meals worth every second I spent doing it! Our nicely cleaned home is also decorated for Easter! Starting with the fabulous new Spring wreath my mom bought me to hang on our front door! I bought some Easter candy on Monday, I am such a sucker for it! I just love the pastel colored candies that come with Spring... I cant help but grab a handful of m&ms everytime I walk by our easter egg bowl.

Tonight we are taking it easy, Jeff is studying, Im having some sweet red wine while waiting for him so we can get to watching some of our favorite shows.
This weekend I have a wild time planned, soon will be Emma's party in San Antonio, Kaley's baby shower and my sister's 18th birthday trip! I cant wait to share all the details about each event!
