Friday marked the end of Jeff's 3rd year of med school and the start of his 4th... yes you read that correctly, no summer break for him. :( poor guy! We were able to slip away for a long weekend in Vegas with Brittany and Caleb before the official start of 4th year though! Perfect way to end a school year, spending time with friends in one of our favorite destinations! Wish I had taken more pictures!
We all had work on Friday and Jeff had an exam so we didn't leave out of Houston until 8pm originally and then our flight was delayed an hour. That might not seem late to most people but I'll let you in on a little secret, B and I are grandmas... yep like doing good to stay up past 9:30, cannot function without a good ol fashioned afternoon nap...grandmas! With that said our flight would not be arriving in Vegas until 10:45pm... 10:45pm VEGAS TIME that's 12:45 TEXAS TIME and about 3 hours past our bedtime!!! "Oh my dear goodness!" was the first thought that came to mind... followed by a quick "NO! These girls can rally!" and Rally we did! We hit up our favorite slot machines (Spin to Win and Wheel of Fortune), played a few many hands of blackjack, and stayed up until the sun was about to rise!
We stayed at Bellagio this time instead of our beloved Mandalay Bay but we just couldn't help ourselves we had to go to the pool at Mandalay...after all it is one of the best pools if you ask me. We booked a cabana at the pool on Saturday and took full advantage of the day, had a wonderful server, chairs reserved for us, pool side black jack tables, along with hours to do nothing but relax and catch up while soaking up some sun and enjoying time with friends! B and Cale made a smart decision and went to the room around 3:30 to take a nap and prepare for the evening... Jeff and I not so much! We decided to stay at the pool... and stay we did...until it closed at 7pm and they had to force us to leave ha. After soaking up that much sun alcohol all day we managed to somehow get back to our hotel, entertained B and Cale for a few minutes and were in bed by 9!
Sunday we woke up early but definitely not refreshed. After some Advil and several glasses of water we were ready to face the day. We went to play some more blackjack, eat and do a little walking around the strip before the Allen's had to fly out that evening. Jeff and I went to Mesa Grill for dinner and watched the Celtics v Heat game at the Caesars Sports Book. Our trip could not have gotten any better! We went with great friends, came home winners, got a Gold Card, and celebrated the end of another year of Med School!
3 Down 1 To Go!!!
